South India, Auroville, a certain way of life in India

India, especially Auroville, was the target of our vacation.
We haven't been to innocent to learn all about India, but
we wished to meet our best friend Ellen and we
wanted to know more about her living and her social environment.
From her story telling we've heard allready many tales and were eager
to find out, if they were true.

We met Ellen's friend, who lives in an ashram,
she could speek fluently about 15 different languages, just impressing.
She told us lots about the life in the Ashram.

Because of my tallness I was often addressed by the Indias
and got curious questions. Here a young boy with his classmates talked to me.

The area of Auroville is located close to the coast of Gulf of Bengalia,
where we have been for swimming, and where I talked to some polite teenagers.

Ellen together with Bernd at the Gulf of Bengalia.
Gusty winds but the water was very warm and good to swim.

Mutu is living in this small village. There we met a funny old man,
who wanted to have a dance with me on the road, and I gladly joined in.

Good conversations we had every day, and we did
not get tired of them and to listen to Ellen.

Peter was the name of this guy. Ellen met him last
time about 8 years ago, when she arrived in Auroville.

Ulrike got her order first. Peter is working in this hotel,
where we had lunch. And surprisingly we got plates and sets of cutlery.

This friendly guy was chief cook in a small restaurant on the street,
two times we had lunch there because it was sooo tasty.
The food or dining cultur is quite different from ours. The people are eating only with their right hand (the left one is "dirty"). Mostly you get your food served on a banana leave. This time we had nice grilled or baked things they have put together with rice on a banana leave. A big pot with sauce stood aside.
Everything could be mixed with your hand, and could be eaten with your fingers.
After a short time we got used to it and it was funny. There was allways a big bucket of fresh water where to clean the fingers.

Even it was Christmas time, the flowerage was just stunning.

Mutu's family, we have visited them in their village.
Mutu is the guy who takes care of Ellen's house and garden. A very polite and friendly guy.

Temples were unnummerous, I cannot show them all, they are just everywhere.
